“Keep showing up. You’re making more of an impact than you think.”

Your earliest beliefs about money might be blocking your financial success without you even realizing it.

It's fascinating how the phrases our parents used about money become the silent scripts running our financial lives.

By identifying and challenging these money blocks, you can finally break free from limiting patterns and create the abundance you truly deserve.

This transformation isn't just about wealth. It's about reclaiming your power in all areas of life.

To your abundance,

Marisa

Your relationship with money is actually formed before you are five years old. By five years old, you've already absorbed powerful messages that will shape your financial decisions for decades to come.

These early beliefs often manifest in statements like, "I can't find the money."

Well, nobody finds money. You don't go out there and find some money; you monetize a skill.

As children, we hear our parents say things like…

"I don't know where the money's coming from.”

“Money slips through my fingers.”

“People like us don't have money."

We watch our parents juggling money, worrying about money, saying, "This job will be the death of me."

I had a woman in one of my courses who shared that her father owned his own business. Every Sunday, he'd lie on the sofa with his head in his hands and go, "This job is killing me. This will be the death of me. This is the price you pay for working for yourself. There's no time off and the headaches are killing me."

She said, "Oh, I don't want that thing called a job if it kills you!"

Years later, she realized, "You know, I never understood why I couldn't make money."

How Your Money Story Becomes Your Money Reality

I've worked with many, many clients who report scenes and sentiments like these from their childhood. And so, they formed them into beliefs.

Then there's something called confirmation bias, which means you are looking for proof of what you've chosen to believe. "I don't know how to make money. Money slips through my fingers. There's not enough money to go around. People like us don't have money."

Many people tell me, "Wow, when I discovered that belief and changed it, it was a game changer."

I had someone who couldn't afford to do my course. She was an artist, and I sent her a recording about money beliefs. After listening, she said, "You know what? I tripled my prices. I'm making so much money. I'm coming to your course. I never realized I had this fear about discussing money."

The Money Blocks That Keep You Stuck

My grandmother used to say, "Never talk about money. Never say, 'How much is that?' Because that's vulgar. We don't discuss money."

This creates a powerful block.

People think, "I don't want to ask for how much I think I should have in case I'm greedy."

Did you know that 70% of lottery winners are bankrupt within three years? How could that be? "I'm broke. I won millions of dollars. And in three years I've gotten rid of it."

It’s because, deep down, they had the belief: "I'm not worth it."

I've worked with rock stars, two in particular, who were incredibly wealthy. And when their career ended, they were broke.

I asked, "How can you be broke?" And they explained, "Well, I just opened my mouth and sang a song. It wasn't like I was working driving a taxi all night, or running a bakery. I didn't ever feel I was worth it, so I got rid of it."

That's the money block: "I'm not worth it. I don't deserve it. I shouldn't really have it. I'm not enough."

I worked with this amazing guy who could make money for everyone but himself. He said, "You know, it's so interesting because my dad died in Vietnam. My brother came back crippled from Vietnam. And I never knew I had this belief: I shouldn't have what they never had. And that's why I keep going bankrupt, because I had this feeling, 'Well, I don't deserve to have success.'"

But then he realized that his dad and his brother would love him to have what they didn't have. And from that moment, he became amazingly successful.

So, we have money blocks. We have relationship blocks. We have health blocks, wealth blocks, success blocks. They are all in your head.

Breaking Through Your Money Blocks

The first step to overcoming your money blocks is to identify them. Pay attention to the phrases you repeat to yourself about money. Listen to the stories you tell about why you can't be wealthy.

Notice the patterns in your financial life. Do you always seem to earn just enough to get by? Do you make money and then quickly lose it? These patterns point to your underlying beliefs.

Once you've identified your limiting beliefs, you need to challenge them. Ask yourself: "Where did I learn this? Is this actually true? Who would I be without this belief?" When you question these beliefs, they begin to lose their power over you.

The next step is to consciously replace these limiting beliefs with empowering alternatives. Instead of "I don't deserve wealth," try "I am worthy of abundance."

Instead of "I never have enough," try "Money flows to me easily." These new beliefs may feel strange at first, but with repetition, they become your new reality.

Of course you can attract wealth.

And by the way, if you believe you can do good things with wealth, you can attract even more wealth.

When you change your beliefs about money, you change your relationship with money. And when your relationship with money changes, your financial reality transforms.

The Path to Financial Freedom

If you haven't got what you want in your life, there’s a block, a limiting belief that’s preventing you from achieving your goals and dreams. To overcome it:

  1. Identify the specific belief that's holding you back.

  2. Challenge that belief by questioning its origin and validity.

  3. Replace it with an empowering alternative.

  4. Reinforce your new belief through daily practice.

And you can have whatever you want—with bells on. You can have everything, but you've got to know how to do it.

The way you feel about anything, at any time, is down to two things: the pictures you make in your head and the words you say to yourself.

The number one habit that stops you from being successful is waiting for perfection. Don't wait for perfect conditions. They don't exist. Start now, with what you have, where you are.

When you understand that your money blocks were formed in childhood, you can choose not to let them control your adult life.

You have the power to transform your financial future. You can rewrite your money story. You can create wealth and abundance. And you can do it starting today.

Remember, your early experiences shaped your beliefs about money, but they don't have to determine your financial destiny. By identifying and removing your money blocks, you open yourself to a world of possibility and prosperity. And that's a journey worth taking.
